For example, while on my way home from work I was remembering an odd saying an old high school friend had. "What's the difference between a pickle?" and once the asker had received numerous odd and blank stares, the reply would be "because ice-cream has no bones." ...which would inherently be followed by more blank stares accompanied by not so well hidden looks of alarm.
Why did I remember this line? Was it because it was truly odd and out there? Or had it been a horribly repressed memory brought to the surface by California traffic? Because, maybe it was a genius insight into humanity?
Doubt it, most likely it was simply my way of remembering my past through all the inane, clever, funny and odd ways that seem to also work their way into my writing.
